Feels Like Freedom
Every day the things on the shelves
are replaced with things the same,
every day the billboards change
plastered with different names.
It feels like freedom to have so much
and makes them look like kings,
pleasure is easy and luxury cheap
when they've got so many things.
There are millions in concentration camps
who've never committed a crime,
there are illiterate children tapping away
who'll never get out of the mine.
There are birds flying back from their winter home
to find their forests gone,
there are women enslaved, raped and unpaid
who'll never get back home.
Every day the cities grow larger
and the people have more things;
it feels like freedom to have so much
and makes us look like kings.
